I realize that nothing lasts forever and that everyone has to deal with their own immortality eventually, but there are just some constants that I become so accustomed to being around that when they DO shuffle off this mortal coil, I can’t help but feel kinda numb. I felt that way when Vincent Price passed away, Bea Arthur and now 2 childhood pop culture icons in one day: Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Wow. I realize that they were 10-20+ years older than me, but it feels like we grew up together; Farrah having a HUGE impact on 70′s iconography, Michael doing the same for the 80′s. Of course I didn’t know them on a personal level, but whatever their personal history, I can’t help but be more than a little saddened that they will no longer be a part of our physical world. I guess it will have to be enough that they will live on forever in our pop culture world.
