Well, big surprise, I’m still not finished with the photos. AND to add insult to injury…I’ve taken even MORE since! Yes, I ended up going to the Botanical Gardens and a few other choice places yesterday. What started out as a trip to Pottery Barn to see their new Halloween goodies, turned into a full-blown shopping spree. I had lunch at Dairy Queen (dunno how wise that was, considering I’ve been feeling nauseous lately, but c’est la vie, I wanted their tacos!), then went to the Botanical Gardens, which is just down the street, and to the AWESOME Botanical Gardens gift shop (god, they have THE best shit!) and THEN to Pottery Barn (whose Halloween stuff I was underwhelmed by) and Starbuck’s…and Barnes & Noble…and the Apple store…and Staples. Yes, I hit them all. And yes, I found treasure at them all. Not all THAT much treasure, but a CD here, a notebook there, a new iPhone cover here. (more…)

Okay. It is now 1:30PM and I just woke up. I initially woke up when the idiot next door’s dog started yapping at good ol’ 6:30am. At that time, I envisioned the mutt sitting atop a mound of TNT and an unseen cord ending at the plunger box at my bedside. BOOM! Doggie tidbits. ANYWAY, I managed to go back to sleep and woke up 7 glorious hours later…with a throbbing headache. Sleeping for extended periods of time often gives me these headaches (that’s how I know it’s time to get up). Other than the headache, my body itself feels considerably better and I feel less nauseous.
SO, first thing, I checked my e-mail via my iPhone and was excited to see that Pottery Barn has now gotten in their shipment of Halloween goodness. So, I think I will take a brief hiatus over there to check it out first hand, and perhaps get a sausage/egg croissant from Starbuck’s next door and perhaps a black lemonade iced tea. Of course, I’m only doing this in order to stimulate the economy. And if you don’t buy that, I’m doing it because tomorrow is 9/11 and I’m honoring heroes of all sizes, shapes and ethnicities. Let freedom ring (me up at the cash register)!

Well, I had intended on posting my weekend photos today, but I still feel sick (I left work early yesterday, thanks Brittany). Luckily I was able to find someone to cover my shift (no small feat, trust me), so I am staying home today in hopes of getting some much-needed rest and HOPEFULLY feeling better. Anything I eat feels like it’s gonna be barfed up, I ache when I cough and generally feel sore. Since I have to work Friday and Saturday, I can only hope I’m feeling better than I’ve been feeling for the last 3 days.
Naturally, being me, I’m SO tempted to do all the shit around the house here that NEEDS to be done, but I am gonna restrain myself and truly try and get some rest. It’ll just have to wait. It still drives me nuts though. And Chumley is no help at all. The least she could do is carry the lint brush around with her. Lousy cat.
With that said, I will HOPEFULLY be able to get the pictures up sometime later today. I’ve got maybe 12 or more left to crop and I’ll be all done. Cross your fingers.

Well, I had intended on posting lotsa pictures that I took over the 3-day weekend (yet another great weekend…is anybody counting?). That is, until I ordered BBQ Chicken Pizza & chicken strips from our local Papa John’s. When I called on Monday, they told me that it would be 45 minutes; it’s a holiday, that’s understandable, fine.
An hour and 45 minutes later (I got busy editing photos in Photoshop), I was like ‘WTF?’ I call and tell them that I ordered pizza over an hour and a half ago. They put me on hold to find out where the driver is. Shortly thereafter, he arrives with my food. He doesn’t bring it to the front door in one of those bags, like most pizza places normally do (including Papa John’s). I pay him (sans tip, fuck that) and go eat. This is around 5:45pm. *In hindsight, methinks the pizza has most-likely been marinating in the car, in the 93ยบ heat, thus the food posioning. (more…)

I can’t remember if I ever told you about this, and since I can’t seem to find anything about it in my post history, it’s safe to assume that I haven’t. HOWEVER, I’m here to tell you about it now, so better late than never I suppose. If you like music and if you like FREE stuff, check out Urban Outfitters latest collection (#6) of free (yes, all 25, full-length songs are absolutely FREE) songs from up-and-coming (?) bands vying for your ears. I’ve already downloaded it and am listening to it as I edit photos in PhotoShop. Like anything else, some I like, some…not so much. But then, you have to keep in mind that this is the soundtrack for some of the Urban Outfitters stores, so if some of it sounds the same (re: emo…though I feel like that term is outdated and really doesn’t describe the ‘sound’ of a lot of the bands I hear today that all the “kids” seem to like…I’ll have to create a term and get back to you), keep in mind that we’re probably not the demographic they’re trying to appeal to (people with bangs in their eyes and ‘sweet’ eyeglasses). In any case, FREE is always awesome and you never know where your next favorite band is gonna come from, so what do you have to lose? Check it out here. By the way, if you’re so inclined, check out what I bought there (Urban Outfitters) last night (it was on SALE!): Giant Orange Cable Knit Throw.
P.s. Do a search for ‘orange‘ and freak out like I did.
A friend of mine was fortunate enough to attend the Chicago Comic Con in early August and I was fortunate enough to get the heads up from her that one of my all-time crushes was going to be there signing autographs: Lou Ferrigno! *squeal* God, I love him. Anyway, in addition, another favorite of mine, Margot Kidder (The Amityville Horror, Sisters, Heartaches, Superman, Black Christmas) was also there.
Needless to say, I sent my friend some money and a few things to get signed. Well, here they are in all their glory. I’m so excited to have them! You just don’t know. I will definitely have to get these framed. And on a side note, I was happy to hear that both were very personable and couldn’t have been nicer. I always like to hear good things about people that I like. It really does affect my opinion of them.

I‘d been hearing A LOT of talk about the movie District 9, so it was no surprise when P asked if we could go see it. It seems like everyone I’d heard talking about were saying good things. This wasn’t really something that encouraged or discouraged me to see it since I pretty much usually keep on top of movies that I have interest in.
P loves the alien-related genre and I do as well, but not to the extent that he does. My interest is a little more on the sci-fi level, while his lies more in the non-fiction arena. Being as it was his birthday, I left the movie choice up to him. I was a blank canvas, though I was kinda skeptical going in simply because I’d heard through the grapevine that the film (in an attempt to be ‘deep’ or have a ‘message’ I’m assuming) paralleled the ever-topical subject of racial (or as it turns out, subspecies) discrimination.
