Well, there’s not much to blog about this Monday, other than yo tell you what I’ve been up to…
I was forced to take a raincheck on going to FrightFest at Six Flags this weekend. I’d been looking forward to it for some time, so when I realized it wasn’t conducive to my bank account, I had to withdraw. Also, poor P is still sick and he also was unable to go. He was so disappointed. He was really looking forward to it and I’d been working up the courage to go through the assorted haunted houses that they offer (something I know P wanted to lay witness to). And because I spent the day working on cleaning the house, I was wiped OUT when it came time to go see a midnight showing of Poltergeist with friends. *sigh*
I’m desperately trying to get the house under control before the party on Saturday: { In case I didn’t mention it, I’m having a Halloween Costume Party } I tried starting this Saturday, and didn’t get as much done as I’d hoped. I do NOT have time to do very much once I start back to work (tomorrow). In fact, I am going to have to take a raincheck on seeing Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (play) in Dallas on Friday BECAUSE I have so much to do.
Friday is going to be non-stop from morning to night. I have my annual American Association of University Women book sale, which I have attended religiously for the last 10 years. After that, I have the carpet cleaners coming between 2 and 4. After that, I have to go order a platter from Corner Bakery (or Schlotzsky’s…I haven’t decided yet, but since Korner Bakery delivers, I’m leaning towards them. One less thing to deal with on Saturday). I also need to go find pants/shirt/vest for my costume. My contacts and teeth arrived today (thank goodness!) and I already rented the cape, bought a cane, top hat, makeup kit, gloves, fingernails and wig. The only thing I need to do is trim the wig (it’s much too full), but I’m not quite sure how to go about it.
Then Friday night, I am gonna spend decorating, which P has selflessly offered to help with. We are also gonna carve jack o’lanterns for the party. That should provide some much-needed down time.
Now that just leaves:
- Calling someone to mow the front/backyard
- Putting all the stuff that I can’t find room for in RubberMaid containers and in the laundry room, garage, storage shed, etc.
- Burn the 3.25 hour Halloween CD I made for the party
- Locate all my warming trays and their cords
- Go buy the coffee table I saw at the consignment store
- Pick up my curtains that I had made from a cloth shower curtain I got on clearance at Dillard’s. And all I can say if that they better be ready. I already stormed the castle once and kinda felt like Joan Crawford, but it pisses me off that I told them before I ordered them that I needed them BEFORE Friday the 23rd. I hope I don’t have to hold one of their dogs at knifepoint.
- Get a haircut & dye my hair (black)
- Get flea shampoo for Chumley and give her a good scrubbin’
- Do laundry
- Find prizes for Best Costume(s)
- Buy candy
And I think that’s it. Cross your fingers! My goal is to be all caught up by Saturday, so that I can spend the day RELAXING instead of running around right up till time for the party to begin. It’d be nice to be AWAKE for the damn thing. LOL!
