It’s around 3:30am and I’m watching an old film noir called Somewhere In the Night. It’s supposed to get down to 17º tonight; right now it’s just 31º. I love nights like this. While most people are lamenting the cold, I’m embracing it. I just came back inside from sitting on the porch with Chumley. I don’t normally take her anywhere near the outside, but she’s all snuggly and it’s totally dead, with the exception of the sound of a train passing through, distant wind chimes and the occasional gust of wind. I can see that there is some kind of mist coming down in the light of the streetlamp across the street from my house. I have my blanket with me, and we sit on the porch for a while. It’s nice and quiet.
The next few days are supposed to be unusually cold (for this area), with highs in the mid twenties. I’d venture out to shop for books at the store in Fort Worth, but I’m more concerned with other people’s driving than my own. The roads might be icy in the isolated area I’m going to, so I think I’ll wait until next week or maybe even the weekend. Probably next week, since there will be less people there during the day. I hit the jackpot there a few weeks ago and want to go back and take my time and look through EVERYTHING with a fine tooth comb. I just know there is more treasure to be found.
So, here’s a sneak peek at just a handful of the books I found. Can’t wait to read them all! (more…)
