Welp, I didn’t win (via eBay) the 1886 cephalopods plate that I wanted. HOWEVER, I did get these two prints on giclée canvas (again, via eBay)! I friggin’ LOVE them! The frames are for display only; since they’re canvas, I’ll be getting them stretched onto wood frames. They’re coming from France, but they were affordably-priced and the shipping isn’t bananas. Can’t wait to get them!

I‘m bidding on this on eBay. I want it for my bathroom SOOO badly! It’s from an old book circa 1886. The auction ends tomorrow. Cross your fingers!

I‘m sure you’ve been wondering: “I wonder what’s rockin’ Kirk’s world these days? (besides the usual…*wink*)” Well, wonder no more! I’ve compiled a short list of my latest interests:
• Well, I was going to blog about the new Bounce Dryer Bar, which I just bought last night. HOWEVER, I’ve read several reviews online that said the bar broke apart in their dryer and/or left white marks on their darker-colored fabrics. I’m still gonna give it a shot. I love the idea that it eliminates the constant adding/removing of the traditional dryer sheet. We’ll see. I’ll keep you posted. P.s. Even though the site says “satisfaction guaranteed,” I’ve talked to some people who basically got the brush off when they called about the fact that the product broke up and/or left white streaks on darker-colored fabrics, so buyer beware (they offered coupons on other Bounce products but no refund OR even a replacement). I’m still gonna give it a try, but I’m not holding my breath that they’ll do anything about it, should it prove troublesome (like most big companies today: they got your money, you’re SOL). (more…)
Wow. I don’t even know where to begin with this one. I like movies, and occasionally I remember to go to apple.com and watch trailers for upcoming movies. Most of the time I skip around and only end up watching maybe 3 or 4 because, quite honestly, not a lot of what’s being churned out these days interests me. At least not enough to go to see it in the theater. Going to the movies used to be fun, but more often than not, if I go with a friend it’s after 5 or on a weekend. As you know, this is when EVERYONE goes and needless to say, I think we all know what to expect from the ignorant (m)asses of today: talking, cellphones, long lines, etc. Eighty-five percent of people are completely void of any and all social graces. So, one of the few things I’ve done in the last few days is read. I just finished reading the 1957 short story by George Langelaan, The Fly. Yep, the same fly on which the movie(s) were based. It wasn’t necessarily an intentional read, as it was part of a compilation of other short horror stories, but thoroughly entertaining just the same.
I’ve always enjoyed the films (The Fly: 1958, Return of the Fly: 1969 { OMG, is Brett Halsey not the hottest fuckin’ thing in that movie?! SIGH } and Curse of the Fly: 1965), but had never taken the time to read the story on which they were based. Naturally, being a fan of the 1958 version, I envisioned all the same actors & actresses while reading the original short story. (more…)
