Well, as promised, here is the second installment of my new Film Series, where I post my favorite images from some of my favorite films. This week: Jennifer Chambers Lynch’s Boxing Helena, starring Julian Sands and Sherilyn Fenn. The film has SUCH an amazing soundtrack! What a shame it was never released. I love this film, but I’ve noticed that I seem to be in the minority. I’ve also noticed that consistently, women are not fond of this movie. I don’t know if it’s a feminist thing or just a coincidence.

This film plays like a male version of “Misery,” yet taken much further and with (however ironic it may seem) more compassion. As with most art, it reflects what the viewer brings to it, so it’s no surprise that it lacks female fandom. Having said that, it shouldn’t be taken literally. After all, it was made by David Lynch’s daughter.
