Me & Orson Welles- Admittedly, I never jumped on the Zac Efron bandwagon. I just never really *got* his appeal, and yes, I know, a 40-year-old, gay man wasn’t necessarily the demographic they were shooting for when they were grooming him for superstardom. That aside, I saw him in 17 Again and thought he was tolerable, so I rented another movie with him; that movie was Me & Orson Welles, co-starring Claire Danes and Christian McKay (who had Orson’s voice/mannerisms DOWN!).

The premise of the story is about Zac’s budding apprenticeship with Orson, during the 1937 production of Julius Caesar.

I’m not sure if I liked it because it dealt with a subject & time period of which I am extremely fond of (‘Hollywood’ in the 30′s/40′s) or if I genuinely liked the film on its own merit, but whatever the case, I really liked it! I was able to take Zac out of the teenybopper element and see him as his character. I know, I was surprised too! (more…)

Is It Just Me? Or is it nuts out there? by Whoopi Goldberg © 2010 (e-book)
Synopsis: Have you noticed that things aren’t as civil as they once were? Or that rudeness is no longer an exception but a lifestyle? Sure you have. All you need to do is set foot outside your door to see that bad manners are taking over everywhere. People are yakking on cell phones in restaurants, even at church. Folks in carpools wear enough cologne to make our eyes bleed. Complete strangers think it’s OK to rub a pregnant lady’s belly. Passengers abuse flight attendants, family outings to the ball park are ruined by rowdy drunks . . . a congressman heckled the President of the United States. (more…)

Idiocracy Vol.2

Contrary to what I’ve been putting on my job applications, I’m not much of a social butterfly. I’m not a hardcore introvert, but I like to limit my exposure to the public en masse. And here are just a few reasons why…

• I love Walgreen’s. I go there a lot. The stores are always clean and there’s lots of shiny things to hold my attention. I go to one in particular more often than others, and that’s where this ray of sunshine works. We’ll call her Natalie. Natalie perpetually has the social interaction skills of a re-animated corpse. Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s another end to that spectrum that I find just as annoying; you know what I mean. Like the woman at Tom Thumb who whenever she speaks I think to myself “Reel it back a notch, Gidget. Goddamn.”

I’ve made multiple attempts to be friendly to The Natster over the year, whether it be smiles, small talk, etc. Each time I’m rebuffed with the same mouth-breathing dead eyes. I’ve since just decided to give her the experience I guess she wants, and just robotically go through the motions while she rings me up. (more…)

Zeb Atlas- Love Hangover [Single] © 2011
Comment: Though most traditional gay porn just doesn’t do it for me (not judging, just being honest), I have no guilt over my love of “gay” porn star, Zeb Atlas. I put gay in quotes because, personally, I think he’s gay-for-pay. He just looks way too awkward in the pornos that he’s done that involve him interacting with another male (most of his work has been ‘solo’). I think he’s so damn hot. I love his face (lips, nose, jaw, deep voice) and his bod. And as hot as I think he is…he is definitely not meant to act, yet he’s convincingly sexy in still photos. ANYWAY, I stumbled across his cover of Diana Ross’ Love Hangover on iTunes and had to buy it out of sheer novelty if nothing else. He has a great voice…it’s just not necessarily meant for singing. The posturing in the music video is pretty stilted, but I must admit I love the cocky (no pun intended) attitude. He’s hot, arrogant, and he knows it. Sound familiar? (more…)

This weekend I had the opportunity to work at the 48th Annual Dolly Johnson Antique & Art Show in Fort Worth. It was ocular overload! I took a few pictures. You can check them out here in my Flickr set titled ‘Dolly Johnson Show.’

Otto: Or Up With Dead People- I know zombies are ‘hot’ right now, but I’ve never been a big zombie movie fan, mainly because they’re normally excessively gory. I can only see ‘the living dead’ chomp on some hapless victim’s innards so many times before it gets redundant. But then I guess the same argument could be made for slasher movies, vampire movies and the ilk. To each his own. (more…)

Quelle Horreur!

Whatever. Being a hunk is so awful!! Boo-hoo. Apparently some guy named Jeremy Jackson, who played “Hobie” on the television show, Baywatch, is addicted to “HGH (human growth hormone) injections.” As such, he’s the newest cast member on the Vh-1 reality show Celebrity Rehab.

First off, I have no clue who this guy is because I’ve never seen an episode of Baywatch. After Google Image searching him, apparently he started out on the show really young. Teens? So, I read this panicked snippet of how he’s “addicted to hormone injections” (I love how they make it sound almost spa-like, like it’s not steroids) and now “fears his fitness obsession has taken over his life.” Hilarious.
