Target. 63 stickers. $1.99. Which one’s your favorite?
Also picked up this super-cool owl pencil bag. They had another design with bigger owls. Hoot!
Okay, let me preface this by saying that a friend posted this on Facebook a few weeks ago and I about pissed myself laughing. Looking at some of the comments (very few; the majority, like myself, thought it was hilarious), apparently some people have a stick up their ass and/or take the feminist movement a little too seriously. If you’re either of the two, and I doubt you are if you’re reading my blog, then, by all means, stay away. (more…)

Oh wow. Dunno if you guys have seen this yet, but I just discovered it recently, while buying newspapers (I’m always behind on my reading, and this place always has back issues) at a convenience store near my house. Judging from the life-size cardboard cutout displayed prominently in said store, apparently Snoop Dogg is endorsing this new product from Colt 45…flavored malt liquors. Oy. And this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this crazy shit. Believe it or not, there’s also Kool Mule, Crunk Juce, Four Loko, Joose, 3 Sum and the list goes on. Evidently there’s a market for this crap, which I initially thought was funny (cuz it’s just so weird), but now I find it insulting; not only to black people (who’re obviously the demographic, judging from the locations that carry it/advertising;spelling), but it feels like it’s encouraging younger drinkers too {read: underage} (flavors/again, spelling). I know, I know. I just read that outloud and I sound like the people who said the same thing about wine coolers (and Joe Camel) when they first came out. Not to mention that flavored malt liquor has been around since the 80′s; my dad was a beer distributor and he carried Malt Duck. I guess everything really is cyclical. *sigh* Lame.

Around 5 or 6 years ago (maybe longer), I paid a visit to a store in nearby Fort Worth, that was a childhood favorite: The Party Palace. Back in the 80′s, this place was the shit! The interior was wall-to-wall STICKERS of every kind, greeting cards and party supplies. But they were known for their stickers, pencils and suckers (shaped like stars, hearts, teddy bears, etc.) on long, clear sticks (think The Facts of Life shop, Over Our Heads). As far as the eye could see were rolls and rolls of ‘serve yourself’ stickers. Back then, stickers came on a roll, like the rolls of stamps of yesteryear, and they either had perforated lines where you could tear them, or there’d be a pair of scissors nearby (connected with a string; not unlike the pens they used to have at the bank), so that you could cut off however many you wanted. The store, like so many of my childhood favorites, has since closed and a shiny new shopping strip has been put in its place. (more…)

I recently came across this article, via AOL, and it really made me think (YES! It can be done!).
I realize this may come as a shock to some of you, but I can be a fairly negative person. No, it’s true! I can also be pretty judgemental (what?!). I’m not entirely proud of these particular traits, but I try to keep them in check…within reason. I guess I want to be considered a good person after I’ve shuffled off this mortal coil…but I’m not holding my breath. Whether I fail or I succeed, you can’t take away my dignityyyyyyyy. Oh, wait. I lapsed into my Whitney. What I meant to say was, whether or not I’m successful, all I can do is keep trying. These 8 tips seem like a good way to get the ball rolling. I found the first one particularly poignant. I have a miserable habit of looking at the not-so-sunny side of life (think the intro to Tales From the Darkside).
Last week, several friends posted a link to an online article entitled Permissive Parents: Curb Your Brats. Hosted by CNN, the article has an accompanying video clip of a CNN correspondent talking to the author of the article. I didn’t initially watch the clip, only read the short article…then the comments left by others. The day I read the article, there were over 3,500 comments. A day later, there were twice as many. Unfortunately (and not at all surprisingly), the “parents” whom the article was geared towards, were oblivious. (more…)

Wow, I just realized I haven’t done a DVD post since February. Shocking, right? What can I say, there’s just not a lot out there that I’m interested in. Maybe if something wonderful came out, I’d have something to get excited about, but there’s just not. C’mooooon Season 2 of The Vampire Diaries (August 30th)! (more…)

These are three things that I am loving this week. Some new, some new to me…
• Annie’s Naturals salad dressing: Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette and Roasted Red Pepper
Comments: I bought these to spice up my chicken. Oh MAN! Found them in the organic section of my Kroger. The weird thing is I’m not a fan of mushrooms; it’s a texture thing, not unlike onions and tomatoes. However, I know I like the TASTE because I was at a cheese-tasting recently and I went hog wild over the shiitake mushroom brie. Oh yeaaaah
• Lifesavers Gummies: Collisions
Comments: Raspberry Lemonade, Cherry Watermelon and Pineapple Punch. M-m-m
• On-Cor Five Cheese Lasagna
Comments: I haven’t actually tried this yet, but was thrilled to see a lasagna sans meat. Meat (quality) is the one thing that gives me pause, when buying frozen lasagna. I’ve had a good track record with On-Cor. *Since writing this, I have tried this, and it was delicious! Here’s a (not-so-hot) photo of how it turned out; I added additional Mozzarella & provolone.
