I went to see the Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art* yesterday, with my friend Erik. It was brilliant.
Though I, myself, am not what I would consider fashion forward, I do love eyecandy in all its guises. So, it goes without saying that I was in awe of so many of the pieces. And although I grew up in the age of Madonna and her cone bra phenomena, I wasn’t so enraptured by the things I knew about, but more so about the things I hadn’t seen before and/or the newer designs.
My knowledge of Gaultier is more pop culture-based than fashion-based, so it was a real pleasure to get to see the clothes up close and personal. The detail is incredible and I’ve always been a fan of Gaultier’s “outside the box” approach to design and what constitutes it. Very Pop. (more…)
